Envision

ONroute

Ontario’s new highway service centres involved these major stakeholders:

  • Province of Ontario
  • HMS Host Corporation
  • Kilmer Van Nostrand Co. Limited

Envision designed three key elements of the program:

  • ONroute kiosk
  • Digital signage pods
  • Large floating panoramic digital display

Interactive technology makes the kiosk an ambassador for tourism:

  • Touch screens allow visitors to study key tour offers and watch video presentations
  • A laptop shelf with connectivity enables presentations by facilitators promoting regional tourist attractions and events
  • The use of familiar materials — natural wood laminates, metallic powder coated steel, translucent acrylic — mirrors the open, bright and angular architecture of the building

Pillar pods and a panoramic display form a communications platform within the larger architectural expression:

  • In the food court, pods with interactive screens perch on main hall support pillars
  • The exterior glazing curtain above the horizontal mullion features the floating panoramic display

We wrapped all this in angular steel tube and frosted acrylic to establish continuity with the architect’s vision for the space.

customer comment:
“Envision is in the process of  designing, building and installing: 1) service centre digital presence; 2) Ministry of Tourism – interactive kiosks. Our first location opened to tremendous excitement by all participants and we are delighted by the above and beyond level of design and service Envision provides us.”
